Making your flowers last comes down to small, regular habits. Every flower has its own lifespan; some hold their shape for a long time, others are shorter-lived. Four small habits give all of them a little more time.
1. Remove faded blooms and fallen leaves
Take out flowers that have started to fade and any leaves that have dropped into the water straight away. Rotting pieces spoil the water and affect the healthy flowers too.
2. Re-cut the stems every few days
Stem ends clog over time. Every few days, cut about a centimetre off at an angle and make sure the water stays clean.
3. Use flower food as directed
If you have flower food to hand, follow the instructions on the packet. More is not better; a little, used regularly, is enough.
4. Replace only what has faded, not everything
You do not need to renew every flower in the vase at once. Remove the ones that have lost their shape, let the rest take centre stage, and reinterpret the arrangement in a smaller vase or a different layout.
At lee’la we believe flowers do more than beautify a room: they give the space an atmosphere of its own. The care you give them keeps that atmosphere with you a little longer.
Care for your blooms. Let them find their flow.
